GPI are delighted to announce building works have completed on the new primary care centre in Benllech. Gerafon Surgery is situated in Anglesey and provides services to the catchment area of Benllech and surrounding rural communities.
This new state of the art facility now provides Gerafon Surgery with 943 sqm of modern fit for purpose accommodation, transforming working conditions for the Practice staff whilst serving a population of 8000 patients. The Practice was previous operating from a 1920s residential conversion where there was no capacity to expand or develop the building. Working closely with the Welsh Health board, GPI has invested in excess of £2m to facilitate the scheme, which now provides 5 fully compliant consulting rooms, 2 treatment rooms and 26 dedicated patient-free parking spaces. In addition the medical centre provides office space for the North Wales local health trust.
Commenting on the success of the scheme, Roger Serginson, GPI’s Regional Development Director explains:
‘The project has made a significant positive impact upon the local community and the health professionals at Gerafon Surgery will now be able to offer an increased range of services to a growing population, both now and for the foreseeable future.’
The practice is fully functional and the community will benefit from a range of primary care services, provided in an environment where privacy and dignity are at the heart of patients’ experience.’
The construction team included:
- RL Davies – main contractor
- Summers Inman – Employers Agent/CDM Coordinator
- Clancy Consulting – M&E Advisors
The project was designed by Bournville Architects.
